2020 Apple MacBook Air Laptop

2020 Apple MacBook Air Laptop: Apple M1 Chip, 13” Retina Display, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD Storage, Backlit Keyboard, FaceTime HD Camera, Touch ID. Works with iPhone/iPad; Space Gray

When it comes to laptop specs, you just can’t beat an Apple MacBook – they have the most enviable specs on the planet…

The most distinctive feature of Apple MacBooks is their incorporation of the M1 chip, which effectively provides a giant leap in both its overall performance and machine learning performance.

The 8-core CPU delivers up to 3.5 times faster performance, so when you’re day-trading, you get your updates through in real time, with no lag or delay.

There’s also 8 GB of RAM at your disposal, so you can have several apps running in the background at the same time, and smoothly too.

And one of the other amazing things about Apple MacBooks is their extraordinary battery life. The Apple MacBook Air will run on its battery for up to a whopping 18 hours on a full charge. That’s only 2 hours less than the Apple MacBook Pro.

And as you might expect from a MacBook, it uses SSD storage rather than HDD, so boot up is superfast and files open instantly.

The only drawback to the Apple MacBook Air is the smaller screen size. At 13.3 inches, it’s noticeably smaller than a more traditional laptop, which may mean that your trading data is a little more cramped when you look at it.

Amazon occasionally has deals on this particular laptop, simply click on “Check price” to see if there’s a deal on now.

Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop

Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop, 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 15.6' Full HD IPS Display, 8GB DDR4, 256GB NVMe SSD, Wi-Fi 6, Backlit Keyboard, Alexa Built-in, AN515-54-5812

For those who don’t know, gaming laptops tend to be the ones with the best specs. This is because they’re meant to display realistic imagery and update itself with the press of a button, so they’re really graphic intensive.

This laptop is perhaps the perfect example. It features a 9th generation Intel Core i5 CPU, so it can process your trading data superfast.

It also has 8 GB of RAM available for multitasking, so you can have several apps running at the same time. And the available storage, should you ever use it much, is all SSD rather than HDD, so get speedy boot-ups too.

And because it’s designed for intensive use, there’s added protection against laptop overheating, thanks to the twin fans and dual exhaust pipes.

The screen is amazing – not just High Definition, but Full High Definition. Moreover, it’s an IPS display which means you can see it clearly from any angle. And at a full, more traditional 15.6 inches wide screen, your trading data will be more spread out and easier to read on the display. Always a good thing.

The battery life is really good, coming in at a full 8 hours per full charge. We’re also suckers for the backlit keyboard. Oh – and it’s pretty good for gaming too!

And where normally gaming laptops can be very expensive, often costing more than $1000, this laptop is much more reasonably priced.

Pros

  • 9th generation Intel Core i5 CPU
  • 8 GB of RAM for multitasking
  • Full High Definition resolution
  • Large 15.6-inch widescreen
  • Protection from overheating

Best Laptops For Day Trading Forex, Stocks and Crypto: A Buyer’s Guide

Unsure what you should be looking for? This buying guide should help.

The key things to consider here are performance, screen, and value for money.

Performance

CPU

The CPU is the brain of the computer, and is largely responsible for its speed. For trading and crypto, you want a machine with a fast CPU, and to that end, we would recommend that you go for a laptop with at least an Intel Core i5 or Ryzen 5 processor, or newer.

RAM

The higher the RAM, the better the laptop’s ability to multitask, and allow you to have several apps running at the same time. Ideally you should look for laptops with 8 GB of RAM or more.

Screen

Screen Size

Technically, you can get away with using a small screen for your day trading etc. However, the smaller the screen, the more cramped up all the data becomes, so ideally you should go for a bigger screen, preferably one that’s at least 15 inches wide.

Screen Resolution

The last thing you’d want to do is misread the available data when you are looking to day-trade. You need everything to be crisp and clear. To that end, we would recommend that you go for a laptop with at least a High Definition resolution, if not Full High Definition.

Operating System

When it comes to day trading and crypto, you have a choice of different operating systems to work from. But if in any doubt, we recommend sticking to the main two ones, which are Windows and MacOS.

Value for Money

As a general rule, laptops with the best specs tend to cost more money. And when you see the specs for gaming laptops, you could be tempted to invest in one. However, you don’t really need a $1000 gaming laptop for trading and crypto, although a budget laptop won’t quite cut it either.

Our advice is to always check prices as you go along, and learn what your money buys you.

Other Things To Consider

On-Board Storage

You may not need much in the way of on-board storage, but if you do want to save files to the laptop, you should go for a solid state drive (SSD) rather than a hard disk drive (HDD), because it’s way faster.

Battery Life

If you’re into day trading, you’re likely to want to take your laptop out and about as much as possible. But, you may not always find somewhere to plug it in, in which case, the longer the battery life is, the better.

Similarly, if you want to take it out and about, you don’t want it to be too heavy.
