Best Laptops For Microsoft Office

You know what sucks about MacBooks and Chromebooks?

How they’re designed for anything but Microsoft Office.

Worse yet, with MacBooks and other iOS devices, nearly all the available apps come at cost. And with Chromebooks, they’re only designed for browsing the web, with no storage capacity on the laptop for any files you might want to save.

The solution, of course, is to get yourself a Windows laptop, that is purpose built for running your most frequently used apps such Microsoft Office.

We’re going to present you with fair reviews of our 5 favorite laptops for Microsoft Office, and after that, we’ve got a handy buying guide for you, outlining some key things to think about before you buy. You can use it as a quick checklist.

A quick heads-up, all the laptops that made our shortlist are all bestsellers with the online retail giants, and they can all do a heck of a lot more than run Microsoft Office.

And if you’re not familiar with the lingo in the reviews, don’t worry, it’s all explained in the buying guide.

And without further ado, let’s get straight down to it!

Talk about flying off the shelves!

This laptop has attracted well over 31,000 customer ratings on Amazon alone. And better yet, the average customer rating comes in an impressive 4 and a half stars out of 5.

It has an excellent screen – not only is it a full 15.6 inches in size, so you can see all those columns in Microsoft Excel, but it also has an excellent resolution, coming in at 1920 x 1080, which means you could even stream films in High Definition on it. And it’s an IPS display, which means you can see it clearly from any angle.

It uses the AMD Ryzen brand of CPU, which means the laptop is better at multitasking than the comparable Intel Core offering. And it has an excellent speed of up to 3.5 GHz.

It has an excellent battery life, coming in at 7 and a half hours on a full charge, so you can go nearly all day without having to plug it in.

You can buy it with different levels of RAM and on-board storage, but this does of course affect the price. We would recommend going for 8 GB of RAM if you can, as this will help with multitasking and having several windows open at once.

On-board storage isn’t as important though, unless you wanted to download large files such as films.

We’re also suckers for its backlit keyboard!

You can buy it as a bundle, with a mouse for example, or a backpack, or a headset.

Best Laptops For Microsoft Office: A Buyer’s Guide

As promised, here’s your buying guide.

Screen Size And Resolution

If you’re going to be using Microsoft Excel, you’re going to want a laptop with at least a regular size screen or bigger. Which means at least 15 inches, if not 17 inches.

If you tried to make do with a 14 inch or an 11-inch 2-in-1 laptop tablet, you won’t be able to see enough fields in the spreadsheet.

And while most Microsoft Office programs don’t require particularly special screen resolution, if you were tasked with making PowerPoint presentations, and you wanted to imbed YouTube videos, then you would need an adequate screen resolution that’s up to the job.

On-Board Storage

If you are using Microsoft Office 365, then all of your Microsoft Office files are automatically saved online to the cloud.

And that’s great if you always have a great internet connection and signal. But if you ever want to work offline, or save your files locally, then you will need a laptop with decent file storage facilities.

This is particularly important if you will also want to store personal files on the laptop too.

And, to that end, we recommend getting a laptop with SSD storage, rather than HDD.

128 GB is usually enough for most people.

CPU

The CPU is the power behind the laptop, and is key to the laptop’s speed. To run Microsoft Office, you will need a laptop with a CPU speed of at least 2.6 GHz.

RAM

The RAM spec is all to do with the laptop’s ability to multitask, and have several apps running all at the same time. And since you may need to do this, we recommend going for a laptop with plenty of RAM. You should look for at least 4 GB

Battery Life

Only you can decide how much battery life you’re going to need. If you’re happy to leave the laptop plugged in when you use it, you may not need any battery life.

But if you did want to take advantage of a good battery life on a laptop, you may be interested to know that many laptops these days will last more than 6 hours on a full charge.

Value For Money

The good news is that you don’t need to break the bank to get a laptop whose main job is to run Microsoft Office.

But it’s certainly worth noting that Windows laptops can really vary in price, so our advice is to check prices as you go along.
