System76 is banging away on designing its own laptop and keyboards from scratch, but that final product could be years away. Thankfully the Linux hardware manufacturer has plenty of other systems to fill the void. The Lemur Pro — launching today — is the latest laptop in the company’s portfolio, and it looks like the sleekest one yet.
Clocking in at 2.2 pounds (or .99kg), the 14.1” / 1080p System76 Lemur Pro is noticeably lighter than even the Galago Pro (and only half the heft of my Oryx Pro). It’s a comfortable weight for people who want to keep things lean and light, but perhaps the most compelling bullet points about this system begin with the battery life.
“With the Lemur Pro, we wanted to create a laptop that would appeal to both developers and to the broader user. The result is a 2.2lbs laptop that delivers 14 hours of battery life or more in one charge depending on your activity, truly allowing you to work from anywhere without worrying about plugging in,” said Carl Richell, System76 Founder and CEO.
